A school should be an environment that promotes creative learning, where children go with pleasure and feel safe. A safe place allows students to better focus on their studies. Parents should also feel that their child is well taken care of and that the school has taken safety precautions to ensure their child is studying in a secure environment.
As part of our social responsibility program, in June 2018 we made our first donation to the St Annes School in Uganda that covered a portion of the expenses of the school’s roof replacement.
In September 2018, our Director of Strategy, Dr. Edward Tse, flew to Uganda to help out with the renovations by volunteering. We learned what education is like in Uganda and the truth about it. Our Nigerian partner, WowBii even made a big surprise to the St. Annes school as well.
Initially, the project was estimated to cost a total of 500 000 SEK (56 000 USD), that volunteers tried to raise via donations. Later in the summer of 2018, we decided to make another donation, this time of 10 000 SEK (1 100 USD) to help with the construction of one of three security gates of the school complex.
We’re delighted to see that the gate is now in place and the security of the students is improved.
